Motorway – Pricing claims

    The claim “More Motorway customers are satisfied with their price” is based on an nationally representative, independent survey of 2,004 respondents who had sold a vehicle in the UK in the 12 months between February 2022 to February 2023 via one of the seven market-leading online vehicle buying services to sell a car in the UK (including Motorway).

    Respondents were chosen at random amongst willing participants. Respondent criteria was that they must have sold a car in the 12 months prior to the survey being carried out (between February 2022 to February 2023) and they must not work in the used car industry. 

    Responses were weighted to ensure that they were nationally representative. This was achieved by identifying target weights across age, gender and geographic region based on the most recently available ONS data and determining the weighted distribution of responses accordingly.

    Respondents were asked, “How satisfied were you with the price you achieved for the car when you sold it?”. 84% of respondents who sold their car via Motorway stated that they were “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with the price they achieved. This was higher than the equivalent percentages of respondents that sold their car through one of the other six market-leading ‘sell your car’ services based in the UK (not including Motorway) and said that they were “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with the price they achieved (ranging from 55% – 80%).
